Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu Simba Lodge – Arrival & First Game Drive
8:00 AM – Depart from Nairobi in a comfortable safari vehicle. The journey to Samburu Simba Lodge takes about 5-6 hours, offering scenic views of Kenya's landscapes, including the central highlands and vast plains. You’ll pass through small towns and remote villages, gaining insight into rural life in Kenya.
1:00 PM – Arrival at Samburu Simba Lodge. After a warm welcome, check-in to your room and enjoy a delicious lunch while soaking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness.
4:00 PM – Embark on your first game drive in the Samburu National Reserve, which is famous for its unique biodiversity. Look out for the Samburu Five, a group of rare species that include the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. This is also a great opportunity to spot the “Big Five” (lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos), as well as various bird species and other wildlife like cheetahs and wild dogs.
7:00 PM – Return to the lodge for a hearty dinner. Spend the evening relaxing on the lodge’s open-air terrace or in the comfort of your room, with the sounds of the bush echoing in the distance.
Day 2: Full Day Safari in Samburu National Reserve
6:00 AM – Rise early for an exciting morning game drive. The cool morning hours are ideal for spotting predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. The wildlife activity is at its peak during this time, and you might even catch sight of animals like elephants crossing the Ewaso Ng'iro River.
9:30 AM – Return to the lodge for a relaxing breakfast, where you can enjoy a variety of delicious options with stunning views over the Samburu plains.
10:30 AM – After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time. You can relax by the pool, take in the surrounding beauty, or explore the lodge’s surroundings. The lodge also offers a variety of cultural experiences, where you can interact with the local Samburu community and learn about their rich traditions and way of life.
12:00 PM – Enjoy a delightful lunch at the lodge before heading out for the afternoon game drive.
4:00 PM – Another thrilling game drive through the reserve, allowing you to witness the dynamic nature of Samburu’s ecosystem. Look for rare sightings, as the evening light makes for excellent photography.
7:00 PM – Return to the lodge for dinner. Enjoy a gourmet meal in the cozy dining area, followed by relaxation or an evening chat around the campfire.
Day 3: Final Game Drive & Return to Nairobi
6:00 AM – One final early morning game drive to capture the last glimpses of Samburu's wildlife. This is a fantastic opportunity to observe animals in their natural habitat as they begin their day.
8:30 AM – After your game drive, return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast, where you can reflect on the amazing experiences of your safari.
10:00 AM – Check out of the lodge and begin your journey back to Nairobi. On the way, enjoy the scenic drive through the Kenyan countryside.
2:00 PM – Arrive back in Nairobi, where your Samburu Simba Lodge Safari concludes. You’ll have memories that will last a lifetime and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the African wilderness.
